range, Cisco, EMC and VMware alliance as a cloud

Orange Business Services, Cisco, EMC and VMware have formed an alliance, called Flexible four businesses, companies offer four services in the cloud with levels of end-to-end service level agreements.

The alliance will offer a private cloud that can be deployed either in customer sites or (OBS), Orange Business Services network, with data backup, security as a service and unified communications services. Cisco, EMC and VMware already have ties as part of its tripartite Virtual Computing Environment (VCE) of the coalition, which offers Vblock infrastructure services and products to businesses.

Vblock be the basis for the supply of private cloud inside the flexible 4 pack business, while Cisco offers cloud security and unified communications. The four flexible forms business alliance part of the coalition offer VCE, but also represents a level of collaboration that is “working beyond VCE”, executives of the four companies said in a conference call Monday.

High level certification “Cisco Certified Architect”

I have overslept this one a bit, but i will catch up quickly from now on again.

In the past, there have been several new certifications around. Seems like Cisco is doing a lot to set new goals apart from CCIE. Formerly this has been the highest level of certification. But seems like Cisco is setting higher goals or new high goals to be reached by individuals.

It’s the Cisco Certified Architect which has been new to the top level available certifications. As a prerequisite you need a valid CCDE certification. To get started with a more detailed view about the Certifed Architect you could start reading this article by Scott Morris, he is sharing his insights. Price to start here is 15.000 $ for the new cert. You will have to pass the CCDE also first. This has been a privilege to only some people. Thinks it’s a good idea to read Scotts article, to form your opinion.

In fact Cisco has announced also three more new certs:

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Wireless

Cisco Data Center Unified Computing Support Specialist

Cisco Data Center Unified Computing Design Specialist

Any comments on this are welcome. See you soon.

Cisco Certification Tracking System

For all of you out there that have Cisco Certifications or have started the certification process and want to track your exam progress, Cisco has a Certification Tracking System to do just that. The system allows you to login and see what certification exams you’ve completed, which ones you attempted, and all the potential ones that you can still achieve. The system is linked to your CCO account and if you don’t have an account, there is a link on their page create one for free.

CCNA Routing Protocol – EIGRP

CCNA test on routing (Lab or Sim) configuration focuses primarily on RIP and EIGRP; however, you will need to be familiar with the basics of RIP v1 and v2, IGRP, EIGRP, and OSPF. We are going to look at the operation of these protocols, as well as their configuration.

In my previous article, we looked at RIP. On this page, we will be looking at EIGRP.
Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) is a Cisco proprietary routing protocol. It only runs on Cisco routers. EIGRP is one of the most popular routing protocol in use today. It is a classless, enhanced distance-vector routing protocol ( Enhanced IGRP). It can also be considered as a hybrid routing protocol; this is because of its great feature to act as both distant-vector and link state protocol.
EIGRP sends updates containing information about networks plus the cost of reaching them.

Acting like a link state, It sends specific routing updates to neighbouring routers only when there is a change in topology. This means that, unlike RIP or IGRP, EIGRP only distributes information about routes that have changed, and only when there is a change to report. The rest of the time, routers only exchange small “Hello” packets to verify that routing neighbors are still available.

This is the reason why it operates very efficiently over large networks.

Cisco sales, profit soared in Q4

Cisco Systems revenue & profit both grew significantly in the company’s fiscal fourth quarter that ended in July, the company announced on Wednesday.

This slightly exceeded the consensus forecast by analysts polled by Thomson Financial, who had expected $0.42 per share.

The fiscal year ended July 31 was a period of dramatic expansion for Cisco, which acquired Norwegian business video seller Tandberg & continued its push in to the server business following its Unified Computing Method introduction in March 2009.
