News International security chief arrested in phone hacking case

Add one significant — and different — title to more than 30 current and former employees of News International, the News Corp. subsidiary that publishes Rupert Murdoch’s British newspapers, who have been arrested in a phone hacking scandal.

The Guardian newspaper reported yesterday that Scotland Yard had arrested six people, including Mark Hanna, the media company’s director of group security since 2009. While details are limited so far — there has been no statement from law enforcement on what role, if any, Hanna may have played in the phone hacking — like the others this week, he was arrested, “on suspicion of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice,” according to the Guardian. HP Partners Puzzled By Stephen DeWitt’s Absence From GPC

Stephen DeWitt has been a visible figure in the Hewlett Packard channel, which is why many HP partners were confused by his apparent absence from last week’s Global Partner Conference in Las Vegas.

According to several HP partners who attended GPC, HP officials consistently deflected their questions about DeWitt’s current and future role at the company. However, rumor has it that DeWitt will be joining Dave Donatelli’s $22 billion Enterprise Servers, Storage and Networking (ESSN) division, and that HP will announce the appointment soon. Aruba simplifies IT management of employee-owned mobile devices

Aruba Networks in the week unveils software designed to safeguard company knowledge and networks when accessed by employee-owned mobile purchasers, whether or not laptops, tablets or smartphones.

The software, ClearPass Policy Manager, offers a collection of modules that allow enterprise IT teams streamline provisioning, inventory, security and management for private devices used for work functions, a trend typically dubbed “bring your own device” or BYOD. Aruba’s software is meant to form it easier to securely manage a way additional varied consumer atmosphere, particularly in mobile deployments, and to provision secure network access, a feature missing from a minimum of another mobile device management (MDM) applications.
