UAE telecom Etisalat has launched a new broadband router that 3.5G USIM card holders can use to more than 32 friends wireless network access.
Launched in response to what Etisalat says is growing demand for mobile broadband Internet through the Emirates, the router is available for AED 999 from Etisalat Business Centres and other outlets in the UAE together.
This product allows up to 32 people to connect to Internet simultaneously through a wireless network, when connected to a computer’s USB port and 3.5G USIM card signed with slots inside the router.
Other users can also add dual function switch as a switch or hub equipment non-WiFi-ready.
According to the telco, the router is able to offer users the access network speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps (megabits per second) – a download speed in the real world nearly one megabyte per second – more than 98 percent of the populated areas of the United Arab Emirates.
“Broadband everywhere is the future of Internet services and through products such as router, we are bringing this future to reality in the UAE,” said Essa Al Haddad, chief marketing officer, Etisalat.
Etisalat is to provide a range of packages to support the new service, added Al-Haddad, including a “pay-as-use option for customers whose usage varies from month to month.
