Juniper and VMware Collaborate with IBM on New Private Cloud Reference Architecture

More and more server and storage vendors are starting to deliver turnkey solutions or reference architectures combined with server virtualization software of VMware and Hyper-V. Most are marketed as private cloud solutions which can be quickly deployed.

There is VCE with vBlocks, NetApp FlexPod , Dell vStart and now there is IBM which collaborates with VMware and Juniper in a new reference configuration which enables mid market clients to quickly deploy a departmental, entry cloud solution. The solution is build using IBM server, IBM iSCSI storage, Juniper switches and VMware vSphere.

IBM has proven once again that “big things can come in small packages.” Today the company introduced a new reference configuration specifically designed for Mid-Market clients to quickly deploy a departmental, entry cloud solution. This reference configuration provides IBM business partners with a complete solution stack to help clients choose and deploy a comprehensive pre-tested solution including servers, network, storage and software and the infrastructure and management tools needed to quickly and easily implement private clouds for their data centers.

Juniper and VMware worked with IBM to create this reference architecture for IBM SmartCloud Entry, the recently announced by software cloud stack for IBM System x. The new IBM Reference Configuration for VMware on System x with SmartCloud Entry includes the latest IBM System x 3650 M3 servers, VMware vSphere 5 Essentials Kit, Juniper EX2200 Ethernet switches, and IBM SmartCloud Entry delivered by Starter Kit for Cloud x86 Edition software.

Juniper and IBM can help companies of all sizes implement a cloud infrastructure;, from companies getting started with the IBM SmartCloud Entry solution, to the world’s largest enterprises that trust their applications to IBM’s Smart Cloud Enterprise +. Together, we have collaborated on cloud architectures for several years, and offer an array of joint solutions and services to help address a variety of public and private cloud requirements.
